Weather


Weather effects can make a lot of difference in a battle and sometimes in the wild. They can effect stats, attacks, and do damage. Some Pokemon utilies Weather to give them an advantage in battle through abilities or typing. Weather effects last for 5 turns if activated by an attack, but last until another weather attack is used if activated by an ability.

Sunshine

This weather effect is mainly used by grass and fire type Pokemon.

Activation:


Using Sunny Day, TM11
Drought ability
Ruby and Emerald: After Groudon is awakened: Route 124-130 and Sootopolis City. Terra Cave is spotted: Route 114, 115, 116, and 118.(Emerald only)

Effects:


Fire attacks base power is powered up by 50%
Water attacks have there base power decreased by 50%
Solarbeam doesn't charge
Thunder's accuracy is 50%
Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight recover all of user's HP
Castform becomes a Fire type
Weather Ball's power is doubled and is a Fire attack
Heat Rock prolongs number of turns to 8

Abilities:

Chlorophyll: raises Speed
Dry Skin: loses HP each turn
Flower Gift: raises Attack and Sp. Attack and changes form
Leaf Guard: protected from status afflictions
Solar Power: raises Sp. Attack and lowers HP

Rain

This weather effect is mainly used by water and electric type Pokemon.

Activation:


Using Rain Dance, TM14
Drizzle ability
Saphire and Emerald: After Kyogre is awakened: Route 124-130 and Sootopolis City. Marine Cave is spotted: Route 105, 125, 127, and 129.(Emerald only)

Effects:


Water attacks base power is powered up by 50%
Fire attacks have there base power decreased by 50%
Solarbeam charges for 2 turns
Thunder's accuracy is 100%
Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight recover 25% HP
Castform becomes a Water type
Weather Ball's power is doubled and is a Water attack
Damp Rock prolongs number of turns to 8

Abilities:

Swift Swim: raises Speed
Dry Skin: recovers HP each turn
Rain Dish: 1/16 of HP recovered each turn
Hydration: healed from status afflictions

Hail

This weather effect is mainly used by ice type Pokemon.

Activation:


Using Hail, TM07
Snow Warning ability
D/P: Route 216 and 217

Effects:


Non-ice type Pokemon are damaged each turn
Blizzard's accuracy is 100%
Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight recover 25% user's HP
Castform becomes an Ice type
Weather Ball's power is doubled and is an Ice attack
Icy Rock prolongs number of turns to 8

Abilities:

Ice Body: 1/16 of HP is recovered
Snow Cloak: raises evasion by 20%

Sandstorm

This weather effect is mainly used by rock and ground type Pokemon.

Activation:


Using Sandstorm, TM37
Sandstream ability
RSE: Route 111's Desert
D/P:Route 228

Effects:


Non-rock, ground, steel types are damaged each turn
Rock types have their Sp. Defense increased by 50%
Solarbeam power is reduced
Thunder's accuracy is 50%
Synthesis, Morning Sun, and Moonlight recover 25% of user's HP
Weather Ball's power is doubled and is a Rock attack
Smooth Rock prolongs number of turns to 8

Abilities:

Sand Veil: raises evasion by 20%

Fog

This weather effect is almost never seen.

Activation:


NONE
Defog, HM05, clears it
D/P: Route 210, Victory Road, and Turnback Cave

Effects:


All Pokemon's accuracy is lowered

Abilities:

NONE
